This is the garden I will actually use for now — the one that feeds me, teaches me, and keeps my homestead moving forward. While I have long‑term dreams of raised beds someday, my real, working garden is a bucket garden.
Buckets fit my land, my shade window, my water situation, and my energy level. They let me grow food without building anything, without leveling ground, and without committing to a permanent layout. They’re simple, movable, forgiving, and perfect for the 4–5 hours of sun I get.
Right now I’ll be growing in 28 buckets, with a future plan to expand to 128 buckets when the time is right. These buckets hold everything from greens and roots to potatoes, peas, tomatoes, dry beans, and bell beans. They give me a steady year‑round rhythm:
This section is where I keep everything related to my bucket garden — the layouts, the rotations, the planting calendar, the seasonal notes, and the ideas I’m actively using right now.
Someday I may build raised beds. But for now, this bucket garden is what I have.
