I’ve always loved the idea of having beautiful, long, raised beds — the kind you can walk along, lean into, and plant whole blocks of vegetables. And someday, I might build them. I’ve sketched layouts, thought through dimensions, and imagined how they’d fit into my homestead once the timing is right.
But right now, these raised beds are just plans. Ideas. Possibilities for the future.
My actual garden — the one that feeds me today — will be a bucket garden.
Buckets are what work for me in this season of life. They let me grow food without construction, without hauling lumber, without leveling ground, and without committing to a permanent layout. They fit my shade window, my soil situation, my energy level, and my rhythm. They’re practical, movable, and forgiving. And they let me grow year‑round without overwhelming myself.
So this section of my site isn’t about beds I’ve built. It’s about beds I might build someday.
Think of it as a little notebook of ideas:
- future layouts
- possible dimensions
- long-term homestead plans
- designs that could work once I’m ready for them
These raised bed plans aren’t promises. They’re just dreams I’m keeping on the shelf until the time arrives when building them makes sense.
For now, I’m happily growing in buckets — 28 today, and maybe 128 someday — and letting my raised bed ideas rest here until the time is right.
