I found this blog I started some time ago and thought I would actually start blogging again.
My husband passed away in July of 2023. And I am finding it hard to get on with my life. I miss him more than words can say. So many things I used to dream about doing, I find I have no real drive to do them anymore. Maybe by writing about them will help me find my way again. At this post I am 73 years old. My dream for many years was to have a small homestead. And to grow most of my food. And now that it is just me, there would be less to grow. I do have a dog, that I will start making food for him too, and maybe growing some for him as well. He will be a whole plant-based vegan like me. But there is this thing that keeps popping into my head – I have no one to share this life with. All my family lives in a different state and mostly clean across the country.
And so, maybe I can share via this blog…
I started a whole Plant Based Diet some time ago. It’s basically a Vegan diet. And I have lost a lot of weight.
This being a widow and living along really stinks! I’ve never been totally alone before, and I live and hour away from a mayor city or town. I am fairly remote. I’ve thought about selling this house and getting closer to town, but I’m very attached to this house and place, I don’t want to move until I have to.
I am surrounded by trees, because this is basically in a mountainous forest I live in. The only usable ground for a garden is my front yard. The thing is that I really need to keep my life simple. I was told in 2020 I had stage 3 CKD and in 3 years I would be on kidney dialysis, but I have improved my kidney function so basically that is no longer a threat. I achieved this by going on a whole plant-based diet, no refined foods of any kind. and now my plan is to follow Dr. Greger’s Daily Dozen for the rest of my life.
My yard is bright but only gets about 4 hours of direct sun a day, so I will only grow what does well or ok in shade, which is really quite a bit.
So, I hope you enjoy reading about what I accomplish in this small, shaded yard of mine.
